English for Intermediate Learners (B2) – Step 21: Future Forms for Prediction, Plans, and Probability
6 Lessons

English offers several ways to talk about the future, and choosing the correct form often depends on the speaker’s intention and level of certainty. At the B2 level, learners need to move beyond simply using will for everything and develop a deeper understanding of structures such as be going to, the present continuous for future arrangements, the future continuous, and the future perfect. They also need to use expressions of probability, such as likely to, unlikely to, expected to, and bound to, to make more accurate predictions.

Throughout this lesson, students will learn how to discuss future plans, make predictions based on evidence, describe future events in progress, and talk about actions that will be completed before a specific time. Through practical speaking and writing activities, learners will practice selecting the most appropriate future form for different situations and expressing varying degrees of certainty. By mastering these structures, students will improve their fluency, accuracy, and confidence when discussing future events in both personal and professional contexts.
