TEAP Test Prep Lesson 1

Overview
Curriculum

Lesson Description

In this lesson, students develop the academic English skills needed for success on the TEAP (Test of English for Academic Purposes) by exploring the topic of time management in university life. Through a series of integrated tasks, students will practice key reading and listening strategies, express and support opinions in writing, and participate in academic-style discussions.

Students will read an article about common time management strategies for students, listen to a short academic lecture, and then apply that information in writing and speaking tasks that mirror TEAP-style questions. The lesson emphasizes vocabulary building, critical thinking, and the effective use of evidence from sources.

This lesson helps students build confidence and fluency in using English for academic purposes while preparing for real-world university challenges.

Skills Objectives

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

  • Skim and scan academic texts to identify main ideas and details.

  • Take organized notes while listening to an academic lecture.

  • Write an opinion paragraph using evidence from both reading and listening sources.

  • Express ideas clearly and respectfully in academic group discussions.
